And because he was so open with them, fans thought they were entitled to opinions on his new relationship, too."I think they wanted a certain type of girl," said Peralta, a former model."Everyone has their own opinion what they think you should do," said Gokey, who lives in Green Hills with Peralta and their 1-year-old son, Danny.
Their second child is due this winter."You have to bypass that and get it out of your mind and say, 'I know what I should do and I don't need your opinions.' I had to shut people's mouths a little bit," he said.
Marrying Peralta was one of the many steps Gokey took toward hope.
He said after the loss of his first wife and the undoing of his country music career, he struggled with thoughts of suicide.
Gokey started singing with his family in church, but stated he would rather record mainstream music than perform solely Christian/gospel music.
